We Want You!  To recreate a Part of History - the Battle and Burning of Monterey  - 200th Anniversary
The Monterey Museums & Cultural Arts Commission is seeking male actors, to portray privateers (aka pirates!) for its 200th anniversary of the historic Battle of Monterey.   This is a one-day only outdoor living history re-enactment in Monterey in front of the Custom House on Saturday, November 17 2018 -1:00 pm – 2:30 pm.
This historic event has the distinction as the only land/sea battle in all of California’s history that took place November 20, 1818 and was led by the French-born privateer Captain Hippolyte Bouchard under the Argentine flag!
“Canon-fire” will be included in our living history re-enactment coming from the tall ship, Lady Washington and being returned from land.  Those with rowing experience are encouraged to participate, but not necessary.  (Those who would be rowing will have some training instruction prior to the event).  (Not all actors/seamen will be rowing).
There will be some brief rehearsal period (possibly late October/early November (TBA). No stipend is available, but being a pirate for the day – priceless!
Contact Battle of Monterey director, Harriet Lynn 443-630-5312 or([email protected]), for questions, auditions/sign up, rehearsal(s).(TBA) sign up.
