The Monterey County Theatre Alliance promotes awareness and appreciation of the quality and diversity of local live theatre by acting as a liaison between venues, artists and the public.
Come and enjoy a night of laughter and hilarity with the American Improv Theater Players! Based in San Jose.

The AIT Players are American Improv Theatre’s premier house team made up of very talented improvisors who have trained and performed in comedy theaters across the country. Their full-length shows entertain audiences with a wide range of styles of improvisational comedy ranging from fun, quick-moving improv games (similar to Whose Line Is It Anyway?) to scenes that are longer and more connected. The second half of AIT Players’ shows are long-form improvised pieces that make audiences feel as if they are watching a scripted play, but they aren’t – everything that occurs throughout the evening is completely made up and based on audience suggestions. The AIT Players can be seen Friday nights at American Improv Theatre in San Jose as well as improv festivals throughout the state.

“We have no idea where the scene will go,” said Joe Acayan, the troupe’s director, “but the journey to find out is always fun for us and the audience. Returning for their 2nd time, The Bay Improvisers take audience suggestions and make up scenes on the spot, accompanied by a lot of LOL.
“They were a big hit for their first appearance last spring and we are delighted to have them back,” stated Pink Flamingo Theater’s Executive Director, Chris Caffery. The Bay Improvisers.perform Long Form improv.

Scenes can run from to ten to thirty minutes and even longer if performing a play. Acayan said Long Form is challenging and rewarding . “It allows us to more fully develop story lines and characters.” Featured in the show’s first half will be Duo Improv in which two players act out all the scene’s characters, locations, story plots and even sound effects when needed. And duo scenes will feature “Legends of Public Access,” the duo team of Chris Shurland and John Abbot who perform at festivals and theaters throughout the country.
The Bay Improvisers cast includes Joe Acayan (Director) and Helen Del Toro from Santa Cruz, Maria Dawson and David Bush, Monterey Comedy Improv and its director, Richard Westbrook and Gerry Orton, creator of Women of Whimsy and Mirth’O’Matics Improv.
